Panelist at Book Launch: Combatting Modern Slavery: A Global Perspective by Springer
Our Managing Partner, Zander Lim, was honoured to be a panelist at the official book launch of Combatting Modern Slavery: A Global Perspective, held at Sunway University.
The session brought together subject-matter experts to discuss the evolving challenges surrounding modern slavery and human trafficking, particularly the intersection with corruption and enforcement frameworks.
In his contribution, Zander highlighted the role of corruption as a critical enabler of human trafficking across multiple stages, from cross-border movement to exploitation. Drawing from the Malaysian context, the discussion examined how corrupt practices may facilitate the movement of victims, weaken enforcement mechanisms, and allow trafficking networks to operate at scale.
The session further considered the role of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission in addressing these issues through targeted enforcement, and the importance of accountability, institutional integrity, and coordinated regulatory action in disrupting such activities.
The event provided a valuable platform for meaningful dialogue and engagement with professionals committed to addressing complex transnational issues. We look forward to continued collaboration and future engagements in this space.
